Valve revealed the 2026 Service Medal near the end of 2025. From January 1, 2026, eligible players reaching profile level 40 could claim that year’s medal.
Claiming uses the level-40 profile progression and resets it for another cycle. A later eligible claim in the same year upgrades the medal’s color, following the familiar annual system.
The original post suggested holding a completed level-40 profile until the new year if the new medal was your goal. This concerns profile XP, not Premier rating or competitive rank.
