Just today, Telegram officially launched a vote aimed at allowing all TON holders to decide on a renaming matter. If the vote passes, Telegram's native cryptocurrency, TON, will be officially renamed to GRAM. The voting will run for one week, and anyone who held TON as of May 31st will receive voting shares to participate in this renaming proposal.

Voting requires a one-time fee of 0.01 TON, in addition to standard network gas fees.
Telegram CEO Pavel Durov stated that GRAM is the native name written into the original TON whitepaper and has existed within the core TON codebase since the network's inception. This name change will not affect any other parts of the network; network transaction fees, validator nodes, and smart contracts will remain completely unchanged.
