Beacon Overlook: A Hudson Valley Hike Near New York

I visited Beacon Overlook on June 20, 2026, three days before returning to China. It was the last sightseeing stop of that trip, and it felt quite different from the places I had visited earlier.

The trail was fairly rugged and took me a little over an hour to climb. From the top, I could see the town below and the Hudson River. The view made the ascent worthwhile.

It is a possible weekend hike north of New York City, with free access when I visited. I went by car and found that convenient. My original note said a car was essential, but travelers should check transit and local trail access before deciding how to get there.

View Beacon Overlook on Google Maps. Bring suitable shoes and check the forecast before walking the trail.
