This year's Steam Winter Sale is a case of "better late than never," pushing right up to the very end of the year. As one of Steam's massive seasonal sales, countless games are bound to see deep discounts. I bet everyone has their Steam Wallets loaded and ready to go for a shopping spree just before Christmas!
The 2025 Winter Sale officially kicks off on December 18, 2025, and ends on January 5, 2026.
As per tradition, trading card drops have already been unlocked (one week prior to the sale). As long as you craft badges using cards dropped in-game, you'll receive a Winter Sale card. These can be sold or used to craft the Winter Sale badge after the 7-day cooldown.
Some games have already jumped the gun with early discounts, like Assassin's Creed Origins at 90% off. However, I recommend waiting until the Winter Sale actually starts to make your purchase, as you'll get a free trading card for every $10 you spend.
The big unknown is whether browsing the Discovery Queue will still drop free cards this time around. If they don't give out free winter cards, the price per card will inevitably be higher. Currently, I estimate a single card could sell for around 1-3 RMB (approx. $0.15 - $0.45).
