This review records my experience after a BuyVM instance was moved from Luxembourg to Switzerland in 2025. The tested plan was listed at $3.50 per month with one vCPU, 1 GB RAM, and about 20 GB storage. My account’s advertised network allowance was not a measurement of sustained throughput.
The original BuyVM/FranTech link contains an affiliate parameter. Confirm current locations, prices, and terms with the provider; this article describes the instance I tested, not a current offer.
Compute and networking results
The VM reported an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D host CPU, and its short single-thread sysbench test scored 3,926. The local Speedtest result was roughly 236 Mbps upload and 158 Mbps download. A Frankfurt target was about 279/146 Mbps with 15 ms latency, well below the interface’s nominal 10 Gbps.
The original post named Bern, while IP databases in the log returned differing locations, including Basel and Luxembourg. Geolocation results alone do not establish the physical rack location; the dependable point here is the reported migration to the provider’s Swiss service.

The full original log is retained with its Chinese labels and unchanged measurements. Service-unblocking results and IP classifications are historical checks and can change.

Routes to the Chinese networks I tested were disappointing compared with my earlier experience, with high latency and some timeouts. A timeout does not by itself prove nationwide blocking or identify who caused the failure. Nearby European targets performed differently, so the results support evaluating the instance against the audience you actually serve.
My conclusion at the time was that the CPU looked strong for a small plan but the routes I needed had worsened. Before choosing a region, test representative destinations and sustained throughput. One benchmark is useful evidence, but it is not a permanent verdict on every server in the location.
