Valve introduced Trade Protected Items for Counter-Strike in July 2025. The feature gives an account a way to recover items after certain recent trades, such as when the owner loses account control or is scammed.

For seven days after receipt, protected items cannot be consumed, modified, or transferred, including moving them into a Storage Unit. The protection state is separate from the item’s appearance or market price. See the official Steam FAQ for current details.
The reversal feature returns the items in the relevant protected trades to previous owners. It is not a normal single-item return option. The account initiating the reversal receives a 30-day trading and Community Market cooldown; this should not be described as an automatic penalty for every other participant.

The original post showed an external marketplace’s response. Payment settlement and compensation promises from outside services are their own policies, and can change independently of Steam. Verify the rules of the service you actually use rather than treating an old screenshot as a current guarantee.
The feature adds a recovery mechanism but also affects delivery and settlement timing. Keep account security measures in place and read the item’s protection state before planning another trade; the ability to reverse a trade does not make an unfamiliar counterparty trustworthy.
