Google AI Plan Changes and Claude Opus 5.5 in Antigravity

Google has announced October changes to Gemini Apps model access, while its Antigravity coding environment now offers Claude Opus 5.5 to eligible subscribers. The two products have separate model-availability tables, so it is worth checking the rules for the one you actually use.

According to Google's help page, the changes begin taking effect for users without an AI subscription on October 9, 2026. Plus subscribers will receive an email explaining when the change applies to their account. These rules cover Gemini Apps on personal accounts, rather than every Google API or Workspace product.

Antigravity: Opus 5.5 requires an eligible plan

The Antigravity model documentation lists Claude Opus 5.5 and Sonnet 5.5 with thinking for Google AI Ultra and non-trial Google AI Pro subscriptions. Free and Plus are not listed as eligible. A free student trial carrying the Pro name should therefore not be assumed to have the same access as a qualifying paid subscription.

The same table marks Claude Opus 4.6, Claude Sonnet 4.6, and GPT-OSS-120b for removal on November 2, 2026. Check your account's notice and model selector before relying on a particular model for ongoing work.
