Just recently, a new AI project has completely exploded on GitHub, claiming the #1 spot on the trending daily charts a few days ago. The project is called Airi, and its core mission is to create a true "Cyber Girlfriend." Running locally on your computer via API calls, it is a next-gen desktop pet that goes far beyond simple animations—it can actually play games with you, chat, and interact in real-time.
Currently available for Web, Windows, and macOS!
GitHub Repository:https://github.com/moeru-ai/airi
Mind-Blowing Features Already Implemented:
- Co-op Gaming: She can literally play Minecraft and Factorio with you.
- Free-Flowing Chat: Talk to her directly in the software, via the web, or through Discord and Telegram integrations.
- Voice Support (TTS): The app generates local voice outputs (currently supporting English local models and Discord integration).
- Desktop Pet: Fully animated Live2D avatars living on your screen.
There are a ton of ambitious features still in the pipeline. You can check out their repository to follow the progress or even contribute to the code. The dream is to have an AI companion who wakes up when you turn on your PC, keeps you company while you work or study, helps you look up info, watches videos with you, and games with you.
You can download the latest Windows Alpha release right now. Just plug in your favorite LLM API (it supports Google API, OpenAI, SiliconFlow, etc.) and you are good to go: Airi v0.9.0-alpha.1 Release. Pro Tip: Character cards are essential for setting up your cyber companion's personality. Check out my previous articles on where to find the best AI character cards!
