In an a16z interview described in the original September 15 post, OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman said humanity had entered the era of artificial general intelligence, or AGI.

AGI has long been a goal of AI development, but the phrase is used in different ways. Some definitions emphasize the ability to learn and perform a broad range of intellectual tasks. Others focus on autonomous systems that outperform people on most economically valuable work.
Those are demanding and partly different standards, so the statement should be understood as Brockman's assessment, rather than a universally agreed milestone.
My own view is mixed. The claim is appealing to investors, and that context deserves scrutiny. At the same time, GPT-6 appears to mark a substantial change from earlier models. The useful discussion is about which tasks it can complete reliably, how much supervision it needs, and where its limits remain.
