OpenAI has expanded the GPT-6 family with GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna. Announced on September 22, they bring advances from GPT-6 Astra into faster, less expensive models and improve on their GPT-5.6 counterparts.

Sol is positioned for complex coding and agent workflows, while Luna focuses on inexpensive, high-volume tasks. They are available in the API and are rolling out in ChatGPT Work and Codex. If you use the Codex desktop app, check for an app update and the models available to your account.
Standard API prices
| Model | Input / 1M tokens | Output / 1M tokens |
|---|---|---|
| GPT-6 Astra | $10 | $50 |
| GPT-6 Sol | $2 | $10 |
| GPT-6 Luna | $0.10 | $0.50 |
At these standard rates, Sol costs one-fifth as much as Astra, and Luna costs one-twentieth as much as Sol. Cached inputs, long contexts, and other processing modes have separate rates.
The original launch note also mentions a subscriber usage-reset card. Check your account for any reset benefit associated with the rollout.
