Telegram Channel Monetization: Revenue Share and Real Views

Telegram introduced official channel ad-revenue sharing in March 2024. This guide focuses on that program, rather than private sponsorships, affiliate links, or bot payments.

Eligibility and revenue sharing

At launch, eligible public channels with at least 1,000 subscribers could receive half of the revenue from ads displayed in them. The remaining half went to Telegram. These are channels, not ordinary group chats. See the official announcement and the current terms linked from it for regional and withdrawal eligibility.

Telegram channel monetization statistics in the original article

Owners can review available statistics in Channel Settings → Statistics → Monetization. Rewards and withdrawal procedures depend on the program’s terms. Having enough subscribers does not mean an advertiser will place an ad or that every post view produces revenue.

A hypothetical calculation

Suppose an eligible ad produces 10,000 counted impressions at a rate of 0.1 TON per thousand impressions. Gross advertising revenue would be 1 TON, and a 50% share would be 0.5 TON. This is an arithmetic example using the original article’s rate, not a claim that 0.1 TON is the current minimum or that the dollar value of TON is fixed.

Why my post views were much larger

At the time of the original post, my roughly 2,000-subscriber channel could show tens of thousands of daily post views while counted ad impressions were much smaller. Premium users, eligible locations, advertiser targeting, ad availability, and repeated views can all make post statistics different from monetized impressions.

Historical earnings and impression figures from the author’s channel

These are one channel’s historical results. A channel with 100,000 subscribers will not automatically earn a particular number of TON each day, and subscriber count alone does not predict revenue. Compare actual ad impressions and realized rewards over time; converting them to dollars also requires the exchange rate at the relevant time.

The program can supplement a channel’s income, but I would not build a budget from subscriber count or a headline CPM. The dashboard’s actual figures are the better starting point.
