X Premium shows how many ads you can avoid by subscribing to Premium

X (formerly Twitter) recently displayed a new feature within its Premium options called "Ads Avoided." On this page, users can view exactly how many ads they've dodged over the past 30 days after subscribing to Premium or Premium+, as well as how much time they've saved monthly and projected annually. See the image below:

Almost immediately, netizens started roasting X for the sheer volume of ads on the platform. Premium+ users discovered that just by scrolling through their timeline daily, they could easily avoid over 10,000 ads in a single month. This implies that for a regular user, there's likely an ad every 4-8 tweets. Even for standard Premium users (where ads are "halved"), you'd still see an ad roughly every 10-12 tweets, which is incredibly annoying. Keep in mind, Premium costs $8 a month, and Premium+ is even more expensive, costing over twenty bucks.

The very next day, X removed the "Ads Avoided" view for standard Premium users. However, you can still check how many ads your account has blocked by visiting this direct link: https://x.com/i/premium/benefits/ads

Premium+ subscribers can still see this option and check their stats directly in the Premium tab.

I have to say, social media ads are becoming overwhelming these days. After X was acquired... after Reddit went public... after Telegram hit 500 million users... many platforms have started to deteriorate (or undergo "enshittification"). But perhaps, flooding us with ads is the only way to sustain the operations of such massive platforms.
