The idea of a national CS2 team combining donk, m0NESY, and sh1ro is exciting to imagine. My original article discussed what Olympic-style esports might look like, but it blurred that hypothetical scenario with confirmed event rules.

The planned Olympic Esports Games partnership with Saudi Arabia ended in October 2025. That development should not be confused with the Esports World Cup, a separate event.

I could not establish that CS2 had been selected for a 2027 Olympic program, nor that specific CS2 players had been restricted to individual 1v1 contests. Those claims should not be treated as announced rules.

National eligibility, neutral status, game selection, and formats would need an actual organizer’s rules. Until then, a “strongest national five” is a fan discussion, not a confirmed tournament roster.
I hope international esports gains wider recognition and that conflict ends. The appeal of seeing top players compete together remains, but predictions need to stay separate from event announcements.
