While looking into Telegram advertising recently, I came across another ad placement: a banner inside the video player. Until then, the placements I had encountered were keyword ads in search, sponsored messages in channels, and banners above bots.

Where the banner appears
In the example above, the banner sits just above the video's progress bar. It seems to appear when you tap or scrub the playback controls. That puts the ad near the controls you use to move through a video, rather than in a separate channel message.
For people who frequently watch videos in Telegram, this could make playback feel more cluttered. This is an observation from the original post and screenshot; it does not establish that every account, region, or Telegram client shows the same placement.
My concern is ad quality
Hosting and delivering large amounts of video costs money, so the incentive to add advertising is understandable. My concern is the quality of the ads users end up seeing.
Questionable promotions can already make it through moderation, and adding another placement gives them another place to appear. I am also skeptical that more ad space will translate into meaningful income for channel owners if the rates remain low.
If this format becomes more common, I hope Telegram keeps the banners unobtrusive and gives users a clear way to identify and report poor-quality ads.
